Inspired by Nigel Slater’s posh tea-time mackerel and a pledge to myself to be more adventurious than fish fingers when it comes to fish (childhood fear of fish created by finnie haddock, nothing to do with fanny cradock btw) I have been trying out peppered mackerel. It’s very cheap brought in pre packed, cooked from deli’s and supermarkets.
I’ve found that grilling it until hot, then flaking it into a little creme fraiche or mayo and eating it with either toast or oatcakes is a very tasty little treat.
More fish is supposed to be good for me and this little fish is quite cheap. Munch on……
